OBJECTIVES

This seminar has been designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the basic principles of payroll calculation. It is ideal for people who have recently taken on the payroll responsibility for their employer or individuals who are new to the payroll function and require a basic introduction to payroll calculations. The seminar is relevant whether you run your payroll in house or outsource to a payroll bureau. A poor payroll service can damage staff morale just as an effective one can have a positive effect, adding value to your company as a whole.

At the end of the seminar delegates will be able to calculate an employee’s salary from gross to net using tax tables and NI tables to work out the PAYE tax and National Insurance deductions.

  • Payment of PAYE and NI to the Collector of Taxes – calculate what is due and when and how to make the payment
  • Final payroll calculation exercise – delegates will run a five person payroll working from gross to net pay
